Walter Hagen won the 1924 PGA Championship, defeating Jim Barnes 2&1 in the match-play final. It was his sixth major title, and the second of his four Open Championship victories. Hagen had a remarkable match record at the PGA in the 1920s, going 15-1, with his only loss coming to Gene Sarazen in the 1923 final. He went on to win the next three PGA titles, giving him a streak of four consecutive victories, the longest in PGA Championship history.
