On April 27, 1929, reports came in that the first day of the 2nd Ryder Cup at Moortown Golf Club in Leeds, England, had been a brutal one. Despite the cold and challenging weather with hail and even snow, the United States team held a narrow lead. They won 2.5 points in the foursome matches, while Great Britain secured 1.5 points. The final outcome of the tournament would be decided on April 28th.
